The T20 type grid coupling, also referred to as a snake spring coupling, is an advanced flexible coupling designed for high-performance power transmission applications. It is known for its compact structure, high torque capacity, and exceptional ability to absorb vibrations and mitigate impact loads.
This coupling consists of two shaft hubs, two horizontal split covers, and a serpentine spring grid element made of high-strength alloy steel. The grid fits tightly into the precision-machined grooves of the hubs and transmits torque through a combination of tension and compression. Its unique curved design enables the grid to flex under load, allowing for angular, parallel, and axial misalignments between connected shafts.
Unlike the T10 type, the T20 model features a horizontally split cover design, making installation, inspection, and maintenance easier without the need to move connected equipment. The cover also functions as a lubricant reservoir, keeping the grid well-lubricated during operation and extending the life of the coupling.
Ideal for heavy-duty machinery such as pumps, compressors, gearboxes, conveyors, and mixers, the T20 coupling operates reliably under challenging conditions including high speeds, high torques, and variable loads. Its ability to dampen vibrations and minimize shock transmission significantly protects connected equipment and enhances operational stability.
Key advantages of the T20 grid coupling include high power density, strong adaptability to misalignments, superior vibration damping performance, ease of assembly and disassembly, and long service life with minimal maintenance.
